TOW #14: CWTV.COM's Homepage

All pictures above are of the CW's homepage and belong to the company.

The CW is a television network that produces and airs many shows, such as the Vampire Diaries and Arrow. As a result, the company, and its website, cwtv.com, are credible.  The role of cwtv.com is to allow viewers of the television shows to rewatch missed episodes, extend their knowledge about their favorite shows, etc.  In order to accomplish its purpose of attracting people successfully, a general audience but mostly to an 18-35 graphic, cwtv.com must stand out, which it does.  The website is able to garnish more attention by having vivid colors, good organization, and by leaving room for more excitement.  Instead of having bland and boring colors like my own blog, cwtv.com has many eye-catching colors.  All of the panels are colorful and so is the wording accompanying them.  For example, for the show Arrow, when the words “full episodes” and “watch now” appear, “episodes” and “now” are in green.  However, when a different show is being promoted, other colors appear.  As a result, people are motivated to watch the show(s) because the brighter colors stand out and appeal to them.  The organization of cwtv.com’s homepage is good, which helps navigate viewers successfully, motivating them to return.  Beside the name of the company are different overarching categories that viewers can choose from.  One doesn’t even need to click on them to understand where they will be directed to because if they just hold a mouse over the wording, for at least two of the categories, they will be able to choose from a choice of tv shows.  The large panel in the middle rotates to portray more shows so all viewers are attracted and underneath, there’s a panel of the latest episodes.  Below them are little extras that result in excitement for the viewers because they think that there isn’t anything more to see, but they’re wrong.  In the area below the latest episodes is a section entitled “Get More Now” which is what it sounds to be.  Viewers can dig deeper into the world of the CW, a truly fantastic one.
